Yesterday Pakistan’s chief selector announced all the squad for the series against West Indies and England. Few changes have been made in the squads compared to the last one. Cricketer Azam Khan has been picked up in the T20 squad and will be making his debut at a very young age.
Azam was a part of the Quetta Gladiators squad for a very long time but last year he got the opportunity to play for them. He showcased his power-hitting ability at the PSL and played some excellent innings.
A power-hitting batsman linking cricketer Azam Khan is missing from the current T20 squad. Pakistan has tried plenty of players in the late middle order to improve power hitting but all of them failed.
After playing some really good innings, he was also picked up by Galle Gladiators in Lanka Premier League. He played 9 matches and scored 215 with a strike rate of 187.
He scored a decent amount of runs but the main deal is his strike rate. A batsman with a strike rate of nearly 190 is unstoppable in T20 cricket.
Cricketer Azam Khan hasn’t played a lot of first class cricket but had enough T20 experience behind his back.
Also, his wicket-keeping skills are great, surely he has learned a lot from his father Moin Khan. Azam will be a nice addition to a group of wicket-keeping batsmen including Mohammad Rizwan and Sarfaraz Ahmed.
With the T20 World Cup coming up later his year, this will the right opportunity to test youngsters before that.
This would be a great opportunity for cricketer Azam Khan to cement his place in the World Cup squad because there is no quality power hitter in the squad and Pakistan is in desperate need of it.
