Cricket Stop’s Test Team of the Decade

Recently ICC announced their Test team of the decade but it was more of a joke than a team of the decade. ICC has ignored a lot of the best cricketers who have performed during this decade.

We decided to make our very own test team of the decade and pick the players who we think performed tremendously during this period.

1.Alastair Cook

He has played a total of 161 matches in his Test career and has scored more than 12000 runs with a healthy average of 45.4. Cook has performed consistently for England and also stands tall in a run chase.

He captained the England Test team for 59 matches and stands in the 2nd position in the win/loss ratio table for England. He didn’t let captaincy pressure to ruin his batting. He has performed in every situation either as a captain or a player.

Alastair Cock is our 1st pick for our team of the decade.

2. Steven Smith

Smith started his career as a leg-spinner but now he is the best test batsman in the world. He has played 75 test matches has 7237 runs with an unbelieving average of 61+.

A player playing with an average of over 60 then there is no power who lets him out of the test team of the decade.

Usually, Smith plays at No position but we are picking him at No 2 just because there are a lot of best batsmen in the middle order we have picked.

3. Virat Kohli

We don’t think that we are going to see a player of his caliber for a long time. He topped in every format he had played.

He is without a doubt our 3rd pick for the team. He has played 87 test matches and has more than 7300 runs with an average of 53.3. He was also a big contender for the captain of the team.

4. Younis Khan

ICC might have ignored the brilliance of Younis Khan but we are picking him up at No 4 position. During this decade he has become the top runs scorer for Pakistan in Test cricket with more than 1000 runs.

He has played 118 matches scoring 10099 runs with an average of 52. A player with such amazing stats and performances for his team can’t be ignored.

5. Kane Williamson

Kane has played 83 matches and scored 6877 runs with an average of over 50. He is just incredible, we are picking him at the No 5 position and also he is the capatin for our Test team of the decade.

Kane is surely a true leader and captain for New Zealand and his captaincy stats are just amazing. He had led NZ to amazing wins.

6. Kumar Sangarkkara

If we look at the stats of Sangakkara, it will blow our mind. He has served his nation a lot with such amazing performances. He played 134 matches and scored more than 12000 runs with a whopping average of 57.

He is our 6th pick and also the wicket-keeper of the test team.

7. Shakib Al Hasan

He might be the player who you can call a perfect all-rounder in Test cricket. He averages above 39 and also have 210 test wickets in his account in just 56 matches.

Ben Stokes is also a huge contender for this role but we are picking Shakib as a proper all-rounder in our Test team of the decade.

8. Yasir Shah

He is very under-rated despite performing tremendously in Test cricket. He has played 43 matches in this decade and picked up 227 scalps. It will be not wrong to say that he is currenly the best leg-spinner in Test cricket.

And more importantly he can bat too, he has got a test hundred to his name. Yasir Shah is our pick at No 8 because we already got a off-spinner in the team.

9. Dale Steyn

Steyn is very unfortunate as a huge part of career was surrounded by injuries. At that time he was in his prime.

Despite playing less cricket in recent years he has already played 93 matches and took 439 wickets with an average of 22. He had played more matches he must have reached 500 or more wickets.

He was the bowler who was very lethal and batsmen were scared of him. Dale is surely our first fast bowler in the test team of the decade.

10. Stuart Broad

He is one the four fast bowlers in the world who has taken more than 500 wickets in Test matches. Also he is very fortunate as he had got a lot of cricket to play. He has played 143 matches and taken 514 wickets.

Without Broad the test team of the decade will not be complete as he is the pioneer playing cricket right now.

11. James Anderson

He is the only fast bowler in the world who has taken 600 test wickets. He was the main force for England during this decade. He has also played a huge number of test matches (156).

It will be not wrong to say that he is the automatic choice for No 11 position in the Test team of the decade.
