Karachi Kings trashed Multan Sultan in a thrilling super over PSL Qualifier 1 courtesy Muhammad Amir to reach the PSL Final for the first time.
Karachi Kings opted to bowl first in an all-important Qualifier 1 of PSL 2020. Multan Sultans started their batting with nerves all over them. They lost 3 quick wickets of which 2 of them were runouts.
Sultans were in the rebuilding phase when khushdil Shah joined the opener, Zeeshan Ashraf, in the middle. At the end of 6 overs, Multan was 38-3.
Both the batsmen started to build the partner but Zeeshan tried to hit the ball out of the park but failed. He got out for 20(19).
Both of the teams were aware that victory in this match will take them to their first PSL Final.
After that Bopara and Khushdil made a little partnership. Bopara went on the make 40 runs with 3 fours and 1 six.
Shahid Afridi who was playing a competitive match after a gap of 8 months also failed and only managed to score 12 runs.
Sohail Tanvir at the end scored a quick fire 25(13) and took the team total to 141 in 20 overs.
Muhammad Amir bowled beautifully in his 4 overs but was unable to take a wicket. His figures were 26/0
Karachi Kings in reply got to a flyer and scored 46/1 in 6 overs. Sharjeel khan failed in this all important match.
Alex Hales and Babar Azam continues the proceedings for the kings. Hales was very unfortunate to get runout because we was playing well, he scored 22 runs.
None other than Babar Azam managed to score 50+ runs. Babar onces again showcases his class and scored a brilliant 65 with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes.
It was looking that Karachi will easily win the match and book their place in the PSL Final.
When Babar Azam got out in the 17th overs, the score was 117/4. The momentum just shifted towards the Sultans.
Sohail Tanvir bowled brilliantly in the death overs and bring the game back for Multan Sultans. Imad Wasim was the only hope for Karachi Kings at the time.
Eventually Kings need 5 runs from the last ball, and Imad Wasim saved the kings with the boundary on the last ball.
The match was tied and in the Super over Karachi scored 13/2 and in reply due to pinpoint yorkers from Muhammad Amir, Sultans failed to hit a single boundary in the super over.
Karachi Kings will play their first ever PSL Final against the winner of Qualifier 2.
