Pak vs South Africa 2020-21: First Test

Pak vs South Africa 2020-21 series started with the first test match in Karachi from Jan 26-30. Pakistan won the first match with 7 wickets in hand on the 4th day.

South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first on the dry and spin wicket of Karachi. Their openers started well and they were 108/2 at the lunch break.

In the afternoon session ball started to turn and Pakistan started to get wickets in quick succession. Yasir Shah and Nauman Ali almost made it impossible for South African batsmen to score runs.

This pressure of not getting easy runs result in panic by South Africa and they started to throw their wickets. Right after the tea break South Africa all out for 220.

Pak vs South Africa 2020 series is the most awaited by Pakistani fans as they are the top-ranked team in the world.

South African batsmen didn’t manage to score big in the first innings. Now Pakistan got the chance to take a huge lead.

Pakistani top order didn’t start well again and suddenly Pakistan was 33/4 at stumps of Day 1.

Azhar Ali and Fawad Alam saved Pakistan by scoring 50 and 100 respectively. Fawad Alam 100 needs a huge appreciation as he managed to score runs on a difficult pitch.

Azhar Ali who failed to score big in New Zealand Series scores a 50 on a difficult pitch and time.

Faheem Ashraf also scored a quickfire 64 off just 84 balls to take the lead to 158 runs. Pakistan ended their 1st inning for 378 all out.

Pakistan might be thinking with 158 runs lead in the hand they must end up winning the match.

Babar failed to perform in Pak vs South Africa 2020 first Test but more importantly, middle-order batsmen performed which is a good sign.

South Africa started their 2nd innings very solidly and only lost 1 wicket for 175 runs and managed to take a lead of 13 runs. After that Pakistan attacked the batsmen and got 3 wickets in 30 balls.

Aiden Markram and Russie Van der dussen scored well fought 50’s but their contribution didn’t helped the team.

South Africa ended Day 3 with 187/4, more precisely 29/4. Yasir Shah spin through the defense of South African batsmen.

On day 4 Nauman Ali picked up 5 wickets on debut, Yasir Shah with 4 in the 2nd innings wraped up South African innings for 245. They got a lead of just 88 runs.

Nauman Ali and Yasir both picked up 7 wickets in the match while fast bowlers didn’t picked up many wickets.

Pakistan chased the lead of 88 losing 3 wickets. Babar Azam just got out when Pakistan need 2 runs to win.

Fawad Alam was named MOTH for this heroics 100 in the 1st innings. Pakistan take 1-0 lead in Pak vs South Africa 2020-21 Test series.
